Program Overview

Welcome to First Stop Daycare & Preschool. We are privately owned and have successfully been caring for children in the community since 1992 as Rosegarden Daycare and Preschool.  In 2018 we became First Stop Kids. Our daycare facility is built on the commitment of caring, qualified people who are dedicated to providing a safe, warm, nurturing and educationally rich setting for your child. We fully occupy a self contained secure building, complete with private playground and private parking lot, across the street from the Bellmore LIRR station. 

Our facility is designed to encompass all of your child's developmental needs. The early education and training of your children are essential for developing their intellectual and social skills, both as individuals and as integrated members of society. We aim to balance each child's development in all areas: social, emotional, physical, and intellectual. We consistently provide positive reinforcement to help build a good strong feeling of self image and to increase self esteem, self confidence, and self expression. As a small daycare center we can ensure that all of your child's specific needs are met. We work to enhance social skills at all levels, encourage creative thinking and problem solving. We function recognizing the ethical code of conduct between staff and children. We encourage decision making, responsibility, self respect and respect for others. Our environment is informal, comfortable, rich in materials and well organized.

The strength of our program lies in the experience, expertise and dedication of our staff. Our teachers create a caring and nurturing environment that fosters each child's creativity and positive self image. Our programs are designed to develop in children, a sense of independence and responsibility. We strive to strengthen each child's own cultural identity, while instilling a respect for others.

Infants (ages 6-weeks to 18 months)

Our infants receive the highest level of care and supervision.  With a ratio typically of 2:1, our goal is to ensure we're meeting the child's basic needs while introducing the concept of self-regulation.

Pre-Toddler (months 12-18)

Our Pre-Toddler's begin to prepare for the main Toddler room by consolidating naps to once per day (or more as needed).  Pre-Toddler's have the ability to explore their room and it's toys while being introduced to basic curriculum concepts and daily structure.

Toddlers (years 2 to 3)

Our Toddler Program is designed to meet the growing physical, social and cognitive needs of young learners.  By encouraging self-help skills and offering choices we foster independence and build self-esteem.

Nursery (years 3 to 4)

Our Nursery Program allows children to develop their curiosity and imagination through hands-on learning.  At this stage we begin to introduce early academics and children build social skills through dramatic play and cooperative learning.

Pre-K (years 4 to 5)

Our Pre-K Program ensures that children are fully prepared for Kindergarten.  Children are introduced to reading and writing and basic math skills, while still ensuring a lot of fun is being had.  Children are also encouraged to take part in "Public Speaking" activities in order to build confidence and learn more about each other's differences.
